Covid threw a curve ball this year, so we have changed our approach to still make way for some great family fun! The Combined Churches of Alexandra has hosted the Alexandra Light Party at Pioneer Park for the past 6 years, we're taking some of the same great activities and spreading them out over multiple locations, creating a LIGHT TRAIL.

Where does it start?

By registering below to one of four times, an email will be sent direct to your inbox with details of the first place to visit on the trail (check your spam folder in case the email ends up there!). Parents must supervise children at all times, the trail is not intended for children to do alone (hence we aren't publicising the first venue!).

Trick or Treat?

The Light Trail is a great alternative to trick or treating at Halloween. There will be plenty of lollies (parents can control if kids are getting too much!). However, whilst we encourage dress-ups such as superhero's and princesses, please no scary halloween costumes (we will ask children to remove scary masks).

The Trail - Who is the LIGHT of the world?

We're excited to add an extra element to the Trail. When you receive a clue at each venue, you will also receive a QR code to a video link to watch on your phone. The video gives a short poem filmed around Alexandra asking the question 'Who is the LIGHT of the world?'. Children are to look for a letter on each video which spells a word - the word unlocks a prize at the end of the treasure hunt. Whilst the video is Christian-focused, parents are in control to participate in this part of the trail. Parents will need a smart phone with data to access the videos via youtube.

Following Covid-19 Level 2 Rules

Families must register below so that we keep our numbers to a hundred at each venue.

We also ask parents and teenagers to wear face masks at venues, and sign in at each venue using your Covid tracer app.

The trail will be cancelled if we move to Level 3.

What happens at each venue?

At each of the six places along the trail, you will experience some of the same great activities that were available at the Light Party in the park ... bouncy castles, Little Flick, photo booth, mini-golf & other side shows, food and lots of lollies. We ask parents to spend 10-15 minutes at each place before moving onto the next (this will help us keep our numbers low at each place).

How long will it take?

The trail will take families around six venues with clues to get to each, like a treasure hunt! You can choose to walk, cycle or take the car - the total distance is 3km. Please note it is not a race, there is a prize for everyone at the end. It is parent's responsibility to look after children crossing roads.

What does it cost?

This event is completely FREE! It is made possible by volunteers from the six christian churches in Alexandra - and by the financial assistance and support from Rotary Club Alexandra and local businesses such as New World, Four Square, Unichem Alexandra, Paper Plus and many more (a full list at the bottom of this page).
